While reading The Record Newspaper dated April 15, 2007, I came across this obituary article on Alice Cleaver Hardie, who was being buried in the oldest cemetery next to the First Reformed Church on the Green in Hackensack.

The article mentions that Alice Clever Hardie was formerly from Hackensack and had strong enough ties with the City to be buried in the oldest Cemetery, but as of
September 10, 2015, I do not know her connection to the Hackensack school system, if any.

Alice Cleaver Hardie’s service in the Eisenhower administration and also the heartfelt connection she felt towards the history of the City of Hackensack.

Alice Cleaver Hardie served during the Eisenhower administration the same time as
E. Frederic Morrow. I do not know how well they knew each other, but it is interesting to know that two Hackensack citizens served during President Dwight Eisenhower’s administration.
